Railway workers meet DRM
ITANAGAR: The All Arunachal Section Divisional North Frontier Railway construction loading and Unloading Sramik Union (A.A.S.D.N.F Rly Const.) called on Ratanlal, the Divisional Railway Manager of the North East Frontier Railways of the Rangia Division on Nov 20 at Rangia to appraise him on the need to initiate goods train services to and from the state. It said that good trains are cost effective which would help the public.
Further, the union apprised him on the condition of the poor labours.

Modified DBTL from Jan 1
ITANAGAR, Nov 22: Government of India is going to launch DBTL (Direct Benefit Transfer of LPG) in the country from January 1, 2015.
The scheme was launched on June 1, 2013 and it covered 291 districts. It required the consumer to mandatorily have an Aadhaar number for availing LPG subsidy. The government has comprehensively reviewed the scheme and after examining the difficulties faced by the consumer substantively modified the scheme prior to launch. The modified scheme was launched in 54 districts of the country on Nov 15 in the 1st phase and it will be launched in the rest of the country on January 1 2015.
Citizens to keep a tab on road expenses

headquarter, people are determined this time to closely monitor the construction of road, CC Drains and culverts within the sanctioned amount of Rs. 10 crores for the township.
In a coordination meeting held under the Chairmanship of ADC cum Estate Officer T. Talom, it has been made categorical that any obstruction coming in the way of construction should be removed by the concerned individuals. Participating in the discussion, former Minister Kento Ete and former MLA Talong Taggu said that the works has to go as per the specifications in the DPR to ensure quality of works.
The meeting decided that committees at various sectors and organizational level should be taken into confidence before any payments to the contractors.
Administration needs to take bold steps and public should give the required support to the administration for all such good causes, they opined.

Toni Ete said that space should also be created for laying pipelines as per the DPR and individuals dragging pipes from the road should obtain permission from the PWD and offender should be reported to PHED for action. Blood donation camp
ITANAGAR, Nov 22: A blood donation camp was organised by the Galo Students' Union (apex) in collaboration with the Ramle Banggo students union and GSU, JNC unit under the chairmanship of Chige Boje, at General Hospital Pasighat on Nov 22. Large number of participants voluntarily took part in the programme.
Upper Ramle Banggo ZPM Takir Kakki and former ASM Ziryum Kakki also took part in the program and encouraged the participants to voluntarily donate blood on regular basis. Earlier in the day, a power point presentation was held for the participants in the hospital premises to highlight the importance of donating blood.
The whole programme was held under the supervision and active support from Dr.Y.Ringu Darang, Medical Superintendent, Pasighat General Hospital and was coordinated by Dr. Gegong Jongkey and Dr. Kaling Jerang.
A total of 30 units of blood were donated. The union also assured to organize more such camps in the near future.

ITANAGAR, Nov 22: More than hundred members of All Arunachal Pradesh Labour Union (AAPLU) led by its president, Dana Tadu participated in a mass social service at Arunachal State Hospital (ASH), Naharlagun today.
During the cleanliness drive, the members cleaned the drains, cleared bushes and collected garbage from all corners of the hospital. They also cleaned the hospital premises and disposed the accumulated waste materials.

While consoling the fire victims, Aboh suggested the villagers to avoid construction of houses in close distances to ensure minimum damage in event of such incidents. Lawmakers advocate setting up of drug testing lab
ITANAGAR, Nov 22: BJP MLA Tage Taki has advocated immediate setting up of drug testing laboratory (DTL) and drug warehouse to improve the health care delivery system and safety of patients in Arunachal Pradesh.
Addressing the Arunachal Pharmacists Convention here the BJP MLA from Ziro supported both the demands of India Pharmacist Revolution convener Amitav Joyprakash Choudhury and asked the Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) department to prepare proposals for him to move the Central ministry as the people's agent.
Such facilities would help control 900 pharmaceutical shops to provide safe medicines to the patients, he said.
Confederation of Services Association of Arunachal Pradesh secretary general Pate Marik rued that pharmacists are given least importance in the state though they mitigate human sufferings. He exhorted the pharmacists to discharge their duties sincerely as 'Rights and duties go hand in hand'.
"We want all health facilities to overcome the shortcomings but unable to influence Delhi. Help in availing all facilities as an activist in the interest of state,” H&FW director Dr Kartik Nishing told Choudhury and lauded him for his effort to set up first pharmaco vigilance centre in Arunachal State Hospital.

IMPHAL, Nov 22: Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh has hailed the role of journalists in maintaining peace and development in the sensitive border state. Terming journalists’ role vital like a constructive opposition for healthy functioning of democracy, Singh said his government is committed to take several steps for the growth and welfare of journalism and media in the state. He was addressing journalists after inaugurating the three day national executive council meet of Indian Journalist Union (IJU) at 1st Manipur Rifles Complex here today.
Singh’s comment comes at a time when media persons in Manipur are subjected to frequent attacks and threats from militant groups.
Dwelling on issues raised by Manipuri journalists, Singh said his government will soon implement the Supreme Court’s recommendations relating to Majithia Wage Board. The IJU had been actively pursuing employment security and minimum wage for working journalists in coordination with its state units across the country.
He also appreciated the role played by the media in informing public about all positive aspects as well as flaws of his government for inclusive progress. The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of maintaining peace in Manipur, especially in the wake of the centre’s Look East policy making the state the focal point for India’s relation with South East Asia. The Manipur government, it is informed has already increased journalist pension fund to retiring journalists from Rs 2 Lakhs to Rs 5 Lakhs besides setting up a Press Academy to produce and uplift the quality of journalists and media in the state. As demanded by the AMWJU, land for building a press housing colony has also been identified near Imphal and would come up soon.
Earlier, IJU president SN Sinha presented a brief on the union’s activities and appealed to all the state governments to form a tripartite committee to look into the demands raised by the journalists as recommended recently by the Apex Court.

ABK unit bans forceful donations in East Siang
ITANAGAR, Nov 22: The Adi Baane Kebang East Siang district unit has banned all forms of donations in the district and stated of seriously dealing with anyone found collecting any donations.
The ABK district unit in an executive meeting on Nov 20 at Pasighat took the decision to take stock of the complaints of rampant forceful donations by many organisations and unions in East Siang.
While expressing deep anguish on the issue, a release stated that, it has been brought to notice that many unscrupulous individuals, parties, student’s organisations and unions both from and outside the district are forcefully collecting donations from govt. departments, officers, officials, public, businessmen, construction agencies, power developers and so on with malafide intensions. Due to such practices, many businessmen have complained about their inability to carry forward their assigned contracts works in East Siang district. Many of them are either in panic or want to leave the area leaving aside the developmental works half done for mental torture and security reasons, it added.
The meeting also took serious note of the tender and supply works where local qualified contractors, businessmen and youths are not getting any benefits while contractors from outside are taking up the opportunities.
Accordingly, the ABK unit has called upon all Heads of Departments of State and the district to give preference to the local eligible contractors from the district while awarding tender and contract works. It stated that any discrimination if found and reported would not be tolerated which would be monitored by the ABK unit for the interest of the people of East Siang.
Further, it requested all business houses operating in East Siang district to cooperate with ABK and adhere to the decision. Assuring protection to all business communities, contractors and suppliers of the district for building quality developmental activities in the district, ABK unit called for communicating directly to the ABK district executive members if any problem arose.
Poor ATM service issue figured in review meeting of bank officers
PASIGHAT, Nov 22: District level Consultation Committee (DCC) and District Level Review Committee (DLRC) meeting for the bankers was held here yesterday. The meeting was presided over by East Siang Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Srivastava and was attended by BM Kori, AGM (RBI) Guwahati, HC Miri, Chief Manager lead Bank, Itanagar, BMs of all the banks of Pasighat and officers of line departments.

KVK and SB demonstrates self-

PASIGHAT, Nov 22: The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), East Siang, College of Horticulture and Forestry, Central Agricultural University, Pasighat in collaboration with M/s Siang Biotech (SB), Pasighat, conducted a demonstration programme on feasibility of harvesting paddy using self propelling paddy reaper machines at Ayeng and Runne village here in East Siang yesterday and today in the presence of several farmers.
The first hand demonstration was conducted at farmer’s field at an area of 1 acre where it was observed that the machine saves 50 percent labour, 90 percent operating time and 50 percent on cost of operation compared to traditional and conventional method of harvesting with sickle.
During the interaction, expert from the KVK imparted knowledge to the farmer’s regarding the paddy reaper machine and needs of selective machinery especially for paddy cultivation in the district, when seeking solutions for the problems like drudgery, high production cost, low cropping intensity and above all the labour scarcity. It is feasible to reduce the cost of harvesting operation of paddy by mechanization to almost half the cost of manual harvesting. Speaking on the sideline of the demonstration, Bharatiya Kishan Sangh Arunachal Unit, President Takali Tamuk said that, this machine is very useful and appealed the state government to include this reaper machine into their subsidy category. He also said that, this machine has multiple uses like reaping mustard, papor etc.
